Bio

Hi, I  am Ela, a Romanian artist based in Bucharest  specializing in conceptual art, bronze sculpture and stamps. I studied at the National Art University of Bucharest and at the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti Torino.

I took drawing, painting, and clay sculpting lessons for about ten years but eventually chose a career in psychology to earn a living. I went back to exploring my artistic potential in 2008 through clay sculpting, bronze sculpture and, more recently, conceptual art and installations.

Date of birth – 23.09.1971

Study:

  1. Psychology, Hyperion University, Bucharest, 1993-1997
  2. Master degree – Jungian Analitical Psychology, Spiru Haret University, 2006-2008
  3. Sculpture, University of Fine Arts, Bucharest, 2016-2020
  4. Art Therapy Phronetik, Romanian Association of Expressive Therapies, 2019-2021

My work

For me, art is primarily a means of expressing my inner universe and my hope is to add to the world’s beauty, harmony, and clarity. I also want to use art to support social causes (environmental protection, reducing abuses and violence against animals) and create more awareness about the consequences of our actions and our responsibility to the world around us.  I created a set of conceptual art images that can be used for posters or banners, with very short texts meant to make the viewer think about their place and role in the world.

I also do commissioned art. I am happy to work with you to translate your vision into pieces of art that fit your home or office decoration needs.

I draw inspiration from archetypal works of art, which invite imagination to explore what is essential, and simple. I like the simplicity of lines and their ability to convey the sometimes-hidden essence of things.
I am particularly interested in aphorisms as expressions of wisdom and I am planning to create a project with the most representative aphorisms from the book I published in 2014, The Gift of Words.
